Tenancy Support and Student Wellbeing Online Network - Inclusivity and EDI Policies Within Student Accommodation (Online)

With student support, socialisation and wellbeing a pre-requisite in PBSA, now is the time to make sure that student care is at the heart of your offer.

  • An hour each
  • A chance for staff supporting students in residence to discuss the latest issues and find peer support with others

Details

Our first session focusses on Inclusivity and EDI Policies within student accommodation.

Equality, diversity and inclusion have been key principles within the workplace for many years with companies developing policies which, in principle, keep their employees protected from discrimination.

But how do accommodation providers offer this same protection for their tenants?

This session will ask the following questions:

  • What should an EDI policy look like in student accommodation?
  • Is ‘EDI’ enough? Should such policies take other things into consideration, such as ‘belonging’ and ‘wellbeing’?
  • How is a policy actually executed in practice?
  • How should an accommodation provider respond if a student feels that they have been a victim of discrimination, bullying or harassment?

This session will be an opportunity for discussion, idea-sharing and networking with other providers. If possible, please have access to your organisations EDI policy during the session and be willing to share your best-practice with the other participants.
