Work is underway to refurbish this beautiful Grade II listed building on Radford Boulevard, Nottingham, ready for students to move in in September 2023.
Hence the name ‘Cotton Mills‘, the building was originally constructed in 1883 to serve Nottingham’s textile industry.
“This factory at the corner of Radford Boulevard and Hartley Road was built by lace makers FJ & JH Perry for their firm Brentwood Ltd. It had 234 [..] lace making machines making plain net. The clock came from the old Town Hall at Weekday Cross when it was demolished in 1895 to make way for the Great Central Railway. The part fronting Forster Street was added in 1896, used for the manufacture of curtain lace, and it was later occupied by Marathon Knitwear. It was one of the largest of the tenement factories built in Radford, [and it was the last in the area] to be occupied by tenant lace makers.”

It was later converted into student accommodation, retaining many of its original features but it is now in need of some TLC.
Unipol are now modernising the building to a high standard and we can’t wait to re-open its doors to students! Again, we’ll be retaining many of the original features which are paramount to the building’s unique character and beauty.

Choose from 3, 4, 5 or 6 bed flats. All bedrooms are en-suite and have shared kitchen-living rooms.
Washer-dryers are to be installed in all flats, allowing what used to be the development’s laundry room to be converted into additional communal lounge/study space.
The building will also feature an on-site gym, secure bike store, and an on-site office for Unipol staff and Residents’ Assistants.
