Hello, I became a landlord when my oldest son was a student at Leeds and asked me to view a house with his friends in 2007, his second year. I was appauled at the state of the property, the size of the rooms, facilities, safety and security so set about to buy somewhere for them to live as I could not have them living in their proposed house.
Being a Leeds graduate myself and still a Leeds resident I knew what was required and where. I equipped the house with everything I thought a student would need, in particular high speed broadband, large screen TV with plenty of channels, double beds, plenty of washing facilities and a well equipped kitchen.
All that my tenants need are bedding for a standard double bed (4ft 6In) and towels, everything else that you would expect in a student house is provided.
I am a Unipol Code member and a Golden Owner as well as being a member of the Residential Landlords Association. Put simply, these organisations set standards which I must and do adhere to.
As a former parent landlord I do not charge a signing up fee ( what are they for ? extra profit for the agencies for filling a form in ? ), I manage the property myself with help from my wife and two sons who are all Leeds University graduates. We are a phone call and 20 minutes away if there is a problem. Repairs are carried out by trusted tradesmen who have worked for me for over twenty years in some cases.
We do not have office hours so I am happy to show you around evenings or weekends if its more convenient.
Thank you for looking and good luck.
