Most landlords want their tenants to report repairs themselves. They don't want parents reporting repairs on their child's behalf. This is because they need to ask the tenant specific questions and quite often also ask them to try a few basic tests or fixes before sending out a contractor. For example, they may ask your child to check a fuse box and to follow over-the-phone instructions. They also need the tenant's permission to give a key to a contractor if there's going to be no one in. Your child will also know specific information, for example which radiator needs attention or which bathroom has an issue. Please encourage your child to report repairs directly. They may also learn a thing or two, such as how to clear a blocked sink!
